Walkin’ around

My wife and i just finished the 1 mile walk on Leslie Sansone’s DVD. That is the first cardio exercise I have done since I made the choice to change my life. It was good. I am tired. But I feel great.

Scaling Down…Week 1

Well it was an interesting week. I did get some exercise in but nothing major. I had pizza, steak, baked potato and Cold Stone ice cream this week. And guess what. Still lost 3lbs. Woohoo. I am so excited. I mean if I can still lose the weight and continue to eat like this I will be at goal in no time. I can’t imagine what will happen once I get signed up at the gym.

Thanks for everyone’s support. It is much appreciated.

Scaling down…The Beginning

Well the scale was kind this morning. Four Hundred and Sixty Five pounds. Based on my last weigh in back last summer (475 if I remember correctly) and I know I had put on a bit more, I estimate that I lost about 15lbs in about a week and a half. But like I said before, that is in the past. I am really starting at 465lbs. The experts say that 10% weight loss will make huge differences, so my mini goal is 419lbs. I have to expectations as to how long this will take. I would love to be well past this goal by the summer. Perhaps that is my real mini goal.

Bet you thought I failed again…

I’m still here. I didn’t start another diet, have a bad day or two and just fall right back into the old habits. A year ago when I tried changing my lifestyle, I came out like gang busters with a first week loss of 10 pounds. I was stoked. Then came 5 pounds. Woohoo! Then came 2, then 3, then 1… By 6 weeks I was bummed. That first week was a huge buildup and then a quick let down. I know I know. It was water weight and that is what happens. But mentally I could not handle it. Well maybe I didn’t want to handle it.

Things are different this time. I have vowed to not allow myself to keep me from having the things I like. I will simply work them in when I need to. I also have decided that I would not weigh until after I had been doing the “new lifestyle of eating and exercise” for at least a week. I then would not have that let down of the number differences.

I have yet to make any major changes to my exercise, but I have made an effort to move my butt a little more each day. I am getting up form my laptop and taking short walks around the office while I try to get in my water intake. It seems to be working. My watch has started spinning on my wrist (always the first sign of that so called water weight loss). I will weigh in for the first time on Sunday. Things seem so much clearer now than ever before.

Day 2 - stupid reflux (more motivation)

Well, after a day of finishing off the leftovers from our New Years Eve party (luckily the sausage balls were all gone) I was totally prepared to get up at 5:30AM today and do an exercise video with my wife (Richard Simmons Disco Sweat - you just can’t beat this oldie). Yet after eating a bunch of chips and salsa and some pop, my acid reflux kicked in about 1:30AM and I was up (playing Wii) for 3 hours. Needless to say 5:30AM did not happen. Now I have felt bad all day due to the lack of sleep. Let’s pray that tomorrow is better.
